Euro Prop Money Legal Guide: ECB Reproduction Rules Explained

The European Central Bank has published clear guidelines on the reproduction of euro banknotes — and all Euro Prop Money products are produced in strict accordance with these guidelines. Here's what you need to know.

What the ECB Rules Say

The ECB permits reproductions of euro banknotes for purposes including entertainment, education, and commercial use, provided that the reproduction is clearly different from genuine currency and cannot be mistaken for it. The key requirements for a lawful reproduction are:

• The word "SPECIMEN" or equivalent must be printed on both sides
• The reproduction must differ in size — either greater than 125% or less than 75% of genuine notes, OR be printed on only one side
• The reproduction must be clearly and durably marked as a reproduction
• Security features that are present on genuine notes must be absent or clearly simulated

How Euro Prop Money Complies

Doing so constitutes fraud and counterfeiting under EU and national law, regardless of the prop designation of the notes.
